Lauren and Mason get married: The Bohlin: Newport, Rhode Island

I first met Lauren and Mason at their engagement session this past summer, from the moment I met them I knew they were going to be so much fun to work with. They were just so natural together and laid back and up for pretty much anything.

The day of their wedding, I met Lauren and her bridesmaid where they were getting ready, at the Viking Hotel in Newport, Rhode Island. Lauren was so calm and all smiles, soaking it all in as the girls had their hair and make-up done. While we had been planning on doing a first look for quite some time, and tossed around different location ideas, ultimately Lauren and Mason left it up to me to choose their first look location. I am so grateful for their trust as I am certain we chose the most perfect location based on the weather and more importantly ‘light’ that day. Just a short a short trolley ride from the hotel we met Mason for their first look. It was absolutely perfect. We strolled around the streets and found quinitessentional Newport architecture and charm to compliment their timeless style. Then it was off to the ceremony. The ceremony was held at Kay Chapel, a quaint historic chapel that is now part of the Viking Hotel. After Lauren and Mason exchanged their vows in front of their family and friends, it was off the to celebrate at The Bohlin. Lauren and Mason joined the seaside cocktail hour as guests enjoyed perfect Newport views, warm breezes and quintessential new england food fare, such as lobster rolls, shrimp and DEL’S lemonade, a Rhode Island favorite. As the sun began to dip behind the Newport Bridge, I knew we had to take full advantage of sun the drenched pier. The Bohlin ( formerly the Newport Yachting Center) gets some of the most dramatic and downright breathtaking sunset in Rhode Island. Luckily, Lauren and Mason were both up for more photos. After a romantic stroll on the docks at dusk, they were back to enjoy dinner and lots of dancing for an unforgettable evening.

Michele and Greg: Married: The BOHLIN- Newport, Rhode Island

Michele and Greg were married at The BOHLIN in Newport, RI. Previously known as the Newport Yachting Center. It’s always one of my favorite venues, as it’s just breathtakingly beautiful, with the yachts and docks surrounding the venue, quintessential Newport charm. The rain threatened all afternoon but Michele and Greg were able to hold the ceremony outside before the first rain drops made their way over Newport. It was just perfect. Michele and Greg I wish you a lifetime of happiness together. Thank you for having me be a part of your day.

Yvonne and Mike: Married: The BOHLIN at the Newport Yachting Center

Yvonne and Mike had the most perfect day at the brand new BOHLIN in historic Newport, Rhode Island. The BOHLIN at the Newport Yachting Center has a brand new look and is absolutely stunning. It was the perfect backdrop for Yvonne and Mike to entertain their friends and family, many traveling from all over the world. I met the girls at the The Charthouse Inn where hair and make-up were underway by Ali Laomazzo’s talented team.

Yvonne and Mike shared a romantic first look before heading off to the BOHLIN for their Newport seaside ceremony overlooking the Newport bridge. Truly stunning.
Guests were treated to wonderful reception, completel with Del’s lemonade dancing the night away. Yvonne and Mike radiating such love and joy.

Emily and Ryan: Newport Winter Wedding

I’m not really sure where to even start with Emily and Ryan’s wedding day. It was such a spectacular day, filled with pure joy, laughter and love. Emily and Ryan highschool sweethearts, truly laughed their way through they day and radiated warm loving energy to everyone that surrounded them. Their storybook theme wedding was just perfection. Every detail meticuolously planned, from the hand sewn wedding dress, designed and stitched by Emily’s mother, to every single flower ( also handmade from paper ) this wedding was filled with both Emily and Ryan’s unique touches. Just take a look at the details in the flowers, absolutely amazing how each one was handmade. The Newport Art Museum provided the perfect setting for their ceremony as guests gathered among art, friends and family as they watched Emily and Ryan come together as one. Guests were then treated to dinner a dancing at the nearby Atlantic Beach Club rounding out the perfect winter wedding. Emily and Ryan I wish you a lifetime of happiness. Congratulations!

Second Shooting with Michael David Spirito Photography

What better way to kick off my blog then with a post documenting one of my second shooting experiences with Michael David Spirito in Newport RI. Second shooting is quickly becoming one of my favorite things to do in photography, second to being the main shooter that is. The difference with second shooting is that there is a sense of less pressure to get everything just perfect and more room to relax and try new things. This often results in tons of learning and new experiences. Of course its always nerve racking to hand off your card at the end of the day and relinquish control but its also part of the fun. I had the wonderful opportunity to second shoot with Michael David Spirito Photography as we documented the fabulous wedding of Keith and Marcia. They had a totally unique and wonderful ceremony at the historic Jane Pickens Theatre in downtown Newport. Friends and family arrived and mingled in the theatre lobby, enjoying an array of old time snacks and beverages. After the ceremony the party began at the beautiful Newport Yachting Center just in time to take in the beautiful sunset over the water. The entire day was simply perfect and I had such a wonderful time working with Michael. Here are some of the images I captured from this spectacular day.
